Poem - Gardening In The Heart

Gardening In The Heart

***********************

Lord - go gardening in my heart,

Unearth, my hidden treasure,

My lost art, measure out,

The part, that I kept hidden,

For fear the light might, find me out,

Might find me wanting.

Garden, in my unlovely heart,

Unearth, the gems, the guilty pleasures,

And bring out my gold,

The untold, unknown, bold child,

Him that got lost,

And wound up, with so much more,

A fulsome store.

God, fashion, me a place,

In your forever. Assure me of,

Grace and favour, that out of harms way,

We could come out spotless,

And free.

In the silence, where you remain,

And words and wonders are displayed,

And the garden of my heart,

Yields blooms, to testify of you,

My tended, nurtured, made whole heart,

And the soulful soil, is tilled,

Sifted and mended.

Seeds planted, and coaxed to life,

Bright seeds of ideas and actions,

And words, blended,

Motions, that have their places,

And times and seasons.

God gives life and takes it,

Where the weeds must die,

And the fruit tree - makes it.

He will have his way.

Someone asks - why and wherefore,

God says why not, and why care,

Trust is love - for the one,

The gardener - knows the way, and the why,

His seasons, are reasons to rejoice,

Without rain what good is the sun,

And who knows fun, without knowing pain,

But he paid the price,

And we walk in benefit,

The you and the me, we,

Who lived and loved, made able,

Have lives that he set free.
